The Witherslack SEN Conference North West is upon us and if you’ve not got your tickets yet, we talk about why you might want to do so.
They deliberately price the event reasonably at £12 a ticket. It makes it affordable for many people, which I feel is so very important. Access to information and support when you need it most is critical. And can play a part in turning a family situation around.
Secondly, the information they provide is practical rather than theoretic. We attended the Conference last year and came away with actionable points that really made a difference to our family, and helped address some specific problems areas. School day mornings are now manageable as a direct result!
Thirdly, the room is full of people like you. Parents and carers who are struggling to do the best for their children, and looking for ways to best support all the people in their family. Themselves included. I never underestimate the benefit of being in a room of like minded people. People who won’t judge, who ‘get’ what you’re going through, and maybe have a different perspective on things that may be useful to you. Also, you may find the feeling of ‘not being alone’ on this journey to be especially therapeutic.
Add to that the opportunity to raise specific questions about your child to specialists in their fields, and the day is, in my opinion, a complete winner.
Sadly, this year, neither Pip nor I can make it to Conference due to other family commitments, but I’m trying to shuffle diary commitments to go to the Midland’s SEN Conference on the 10th July instead. I know it will be worth it!
